The School-to-Work Resources for System Builders is a
technical assistance resource directory compiled by the National Transition
Alliance for Youth with Disabilities (NTA) to
facilitate the inclusion and participation of youth with
disabilities in school-to-work systems.
In developing this product, the NTA solicited state
and local organizations nationally to share resources
they have produced or found useful in their efforts
related to the inclusion of students in school-to-work.
Organizations were asked to select resources that offered
"hands on" assistance and were published after
1992. They provided the following information for each
resource: a brief description, source information, and
content areas that best described their product.
The content areas used were based upon the NTA
Transition Practices Framework, which is a tool developed
to identify and evaluate effective school-to-work
practices. The content areas and their descriptions are
as follows:
- Business and Community Resources -
resources that focus on facilitating
participation of businesses, labor unions,
community service agencies, government
organizations, and other community resources.
- Career Pathways and Contextual Learning -
resources that focus on activities pertaining
specifically to career exploration and
development.
- Family Involvement - resources that focus
on parent involvement in planning and delivering
education.
- Structures and Policies - resources that
focus on practices that make the delivery of
school-to-work activities more effective.
- Student-Focused Planning and Development -
resources that focus on planning and developing
educational programs for individual students.
Resources are arranged by the following categories:
- Articles
- Audiovisual
Materials
- Books
- Checklists/Tools/Newsletters
- Curriculum
- Reports
- Resource
Guides
- Training
Materials
- Websites
We hope you find this tool useful in your
school-to-work efforts!
